AV Equipment & Events Support
This guide covers how to request audiovisual equipment for campus events, troubleshoot common AV issues, and manage digital signage displays.
Requesting AV Equipment for Events
If you need AV support for an upcoming event (chapel, assembly, athletic event, etc.), please submit a help desk ticket at least 5 business days in advance with the following details:
- Event name and date/time
- Location (gym, arena, chapel, classroom, outdoor, etc.)
- Equipment needed: projector, screen, microphone(s), speakers, livestream, etc.
- Any special requirements (e.g., multiple microphones, background music, video playback)
Projector & Screen Troubleshooting
- No image on screen: Check that the projector is powered on (look for a blue/green LED). Verify the correct input source is selected. Try a different HDMI/VGA cable.
- Blurry or dim image: Adjust the focus ring on the projector lens. Ensure room lights near the screen are dimmed.
- No sound from projector speakers: Most projectors do NOT have built-in speakers. Use the room's wall speakers or request a portable speaker from IT.
Sound System Basics
- Wireless microphones: Ensure the mic is powered on and the receiver is on the correct channel. Replace batteries if the signal is weak.
- Feedback or echo: Move the microphone away from speakers. Lower the speaker volume before adjusting mic gain.
- No audio output: Verify the mixer/amplifier is powered on and unmuted. Check cable connections from the source device to the mixer.
Digital Signage
- Screen is black or showing wrong content: Verify the signage player (small box behind the display) is powered on and connected to the network. Restart the player by unplugging it for 10 seconds.
- Updating content: Contact IT to update digital signage content. Please provide the new content (images, text, or video) and the display location.
- Connectivity issues: If the signage player shows 'No Network,' check the Ethernet cable connection or Wi-Fi status.
Gym & Arena AV
- The gym and arena have dedicated AV systems. Submit a ticket for setup assistance for games and events.
- Scoreboard and shot clock controls are managed separately — contact the Athletics office for access.
