This guide walks you through setting up your voicemail PIN for the first time on the RCS Intermedia phone system, and how to reset it if you've forgotten it.
Setting Up Your Voicemail for the First Time
- Pick up your office phone handset and press the Voicemail button (envelope icon), or dial *86 from your desk phone.
- You will be prompted to enter your temporary PIN. The default PIN is your 4-digit extension number (e.g., if your extension is 1234, enter 1234).
- Follow the prompts to:
- Create a new PIN (must be 4–15 digits; avoid obvious sequences like 1234 or your extension)
- Record your name
- Record your personal greeting
- Once complete, your voicemail is active and ready to receive messages.
Resetting a Forgotten Voicemail PIN
If you've forgotten your PIN and are locked out of voicemail, IT can reset it for you.
- Submit a ticket at acarcs.zendesk.com or email itsupport@redlandschristian.org.
- Include: your name, extension number, and "voicemail PIN reset" in the subject.
- IT will reset your PIN to the default (your extension number) and notify you. You can then set a new PIN following the steps above.
Changing Your Voicemail PIN (When You Know Your Current PIN)
- Dial *86 from your desk phone and enter your current PIN.
- Press 4 for Personal Options.
- Press 2 for Administrative Options.
- Press 1 to change your PIN.
- Enter and confirm your new PIN when prompted.
Tips for a Good Voicemail Greeting
- State your name, department, and that you'll return calls promptly.
- If you'll be out of the office, update your greeting with expected return date.
- Keep it under 20 seconds — callers prefer brief greetings.
