If there is no sound coming from your Promethean panel — or the sound is cutting in and out — this guide will help you identify and fix the problem.
Step 1: Check the Panel Volume
- On the panel's touch interface, swipe down from the top (or look for the settings gear) to open the Quick Settings panel.
- Make sure the volume is not muted and is turned up to an audible level.
- Also check the physical volume buttons on the side or bottom edge of the panel.
Step 2: Check the Audio Source
The panel has multiple inputs. Make sure the audio output is set to match your content source:
- If showing content from a connected laptop via HDMI: the laptop's audio is being sent through the HDMI cable. Check that the laptop's volume is up and not muted, and that the audio output is set to the panel (look in your taskbar's sound settings).
- If using the panel's built-in browser or apps: audio should come directly from the panel speakers — check panel volume and system settings.
Step 3: Check the Correct Audio Output Is Selected
- On the panel, go to Settings > Sound.
- Confirm the audio output device is set to Built-in Speakers or the correct output.
- If an external speaker or display is listed and selected, switch it back to the panel's built-in speakers.
Step 4: Restart the Panel
- Hold the power button on the panel for 3–5 seconds.
- Select Restart (not Sleep).
- Allow the panel to fully reboot (1–2 minutes) and test audio again.
Step 5: Test with a Different Source
- Open YouTube directly on the panel's browser and play a video. If that has sound but your laptop connection doesn't, the issue is with your laptop's HDMI audio output.
- On your laptop: right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar > Open Sound Settings > change Output to the Promethean panel or HDMI device.
