EAGLE TECH WEEKLY · ISSUE #2
April 27, 2026 · Your Byte-Sized IT Briefing
|
|
Hi, I'm Eagle Byte 🦅 - your neighborhood IT mascot and resident ticket-counter.
Seven days. 67 tickets. One very determined IT crew. And a mascot who absolutely refuses to take a Sunday off.
Here's your byte-sized look at what went down in RCS IT this week - the wins, the installs, and the things you'll want to know before Monday morning.
A few highlights from the week's tickets: "No internet in LS Room 4," "Clock in The Nest shows wrong time," "Can't log in at the Upper School kitchen." Each one a puzzle. Each one solved.

🔍 Byte's Field Report
The Nest just leveled up - twice. Saturday, April 25, the IT team and the crew from Vizual Symphony spent the day transforming The Nest at Upper School into a proper large-venue presentation space. Scissor lifts, ceiling work, the whole production.

Upgrade #1 โ New Projector + Screen: A BenQ LU935 laser projector now lives in the ceiling, paired with a motorized Da-Lite screen and a clean Kramer wall plate for device connections. Bright, sharp, and built to handle everything from morning assemblies to senior graduation night.
Upgrade #2 โ Mersive Solstice Pod Gen 3: This is the one that changes how The Nest actually gets used day-to-day. The Solstice Pod is a wireless presentation hub designed for larger rooms - and it makes sharing to the big screen as easy as connecting to Wi-Fi.
|
What the Solstice Pod Does for You
|
| 📶 Connect without cables |
Mac, PC, iPad, iPhone, Android - any device, no dongle. Connect via the Solstice app, AirPlay, or Miracast. |
| 📺 Up to 4 screens at once |
Split the display to show up to 4 different device streams simultaneously - perfect for panel discussions or comparing student work. |
| 💻 Designed for large rooms |
The Gen 3 Pod handles the bandwidth demands of a space like The Nest - high-resolution streams, minimal lag, even with a full crowd. |
| 📹 Zoom & Teams ready |
Pairs with Solstice Conference to bring the room into video calls - share content from the room to remote participants seamlessly. |
| 🔑 Easy pairing |
The screen shows a room key (currently 3155) and connection instructions the moment you walk in. No hunting for cables or adapters. |
How to use it in The Nest: When you walk in, you'll see the Solstice welcome screen on the display. Open the Solstice app on your device (or use AirPlay from an iPhone/iPad), enter the room key, and you're presenting wirelessly within seconds.

🏆 High-Fives from the Nest
|
|
Robin Clark tackled a wave of Chromebook repairs in Middle School this week - multiple devices back in student hands faster than you can say "Powerwash."
The IT team closed out 67 tickets this week - including a memorable run of 5 clock-related tickets. When the clock in The Nest shows the wrong time, the whole campus notices.
Vizual Symphony executed a flawless ceiling-level install on a Saturday. That's the kind of vendor partnership that makes projects actually ship.

Power outage Monday. On campus before sunrise resetting every switch, then chasing a DHCP server whose CMOS battery decided to quit on life. 67 tickets closed. 5 clocks corrected. 1 ceiling-mount install on a Saturday. Not a bad week.

🎥 Byte's Movie Night Pick
Since we're talking classroom AV this week, here's one for anyone who's ever had a panel shut itself off mid-lesson:
Your Smart Panel Is Shutting Itself Off - Here's the Real Reason Why
Spoiler: it's usually not broken. It's a 15-minute auto-sleep setting doing exactly what someone told it to do. This video explains what's happening and how to fix it in under 2 minutes.

🖥 On Byte's Radar
New teammate incoming: Trent Stone joins the IT team Monday. If you see someone new helping out at the help desk, that's Trent. Say hello - he's already got a ticket queue waiting for him.
AP testing season is here: If your students use Chromebooks for AP exams, now is the time to flag any device issues - not the morning of testing. Submit a help desk ticket this week so we can get things sorted before the high-stakes days arrive.
Bell system renewal: The InformaCast bell renewal is in process. No disruptions expected - Byte is watching the calendar closely on this one.

🦅 Stay curious, stay patched, and file those tickets - I've got eagle eyes on you.
