What's Happening?
Students sign in to their Chromebook with their QR badge and open Clever, but when they click on an app (like IXL, Lexia, or Seesaw), the page just blinks or flashes and nothing loads. The student stays on the Clever dashboard instead of being taken into the app.
Quick Fixes for Teachers
Fix 1: Clear the Browser Cache
- On the student's Chromebook, press Ctrl + Shift + Delete
- Select "All time"
- Check Cookies and Cached images and files
- Click Clear data
- Close Chrome and reopen it
- Have the student sign back into Clever and try again
Fix 2: Restart the Chromebook
- Click the clock/time area in the bottom-right corner
- Click the power icon to shut down
- Wait 10 seconds, then press the power button to turn it back on
- Sign in and try Clever again
Fix 3: Sign Out and Back Into Clever
- In Clever, click the student's name in the top right
- Click "Log Out"
- Have the student scan their QR badge again to sign back in
- Try launching the app again
Fix 4: Try a Different Chromebook
If the issue only happens on one Chromebook, it may be a device-specific problem. Have the student try a different Chromebook from the cart. If it works on a different device, the original Chromebook may need IT attention.
If It's Affecting Multiple Students
If several students in your class are experiencing the same issue:
- It's likely a Clever session issue or a network problem, not individual devices
- Try having all affected students clear their cache (Fix 1 above)
- If that doesn't work, submit a ticket to itsupport@redlandschristian.org with:
- Which app(s) aren't loading
- How many students are affected
- What grade/class
- Whether clearing cache helped or not
When to Submit a Ticket
Submit a ticket if:
- The issue persists after trying all the fixes above
- Multiple students across different Chromebooks have the same problem
- A specific app consistently fails to launch (while others work fine)
