Clever is the single sign-on hub RCS staff and students use to launch classroom apps like IXL and McGraw-Hill without typing a password for each one. This article explains how to sign in, what to do when an app won't launch, and where to find Clever's own resources.
Overview
Clever connects your Google Workspace account (the one you use for RCS email) to your classroom apps. Once you sign in to Clever with Google, your apps open without asking you to log in again.
Staff rosters and class lists come into Clever automatically from FACTS each night. That means if a student is added or removed from your class in FACTS, the change shows up in Clever the next school day, not immediately.
RCS Clever resources including quick-start videos, teacher guides, and the internal app catalog live in the Clever Resources SharePoint folder.
Steps
1. Sign in to Clever
- Go to clever.com/in/rcs or click the Clever bookmark in Chrome
- Select Log in with Google
- Choose your @acarcs.org account (staff and students both use this same domain)
- Your Clever dashboard opens with all your apps
2. Launch an App
Click any app tile on your dashboard (IXL, McGraw-Hill, etc.). Clever handles the sign-in behind the scenes. You should land directly inside the app with no additional login prompt.
3. Find Your Class Roster
Inside most Clever-integrated apps, your class list is already loaded. If a student joined your class recently and you don't see them yet, that's normal, the FACTS to Clever sync runs overnight and the student will appear the next school day.
Troubleshooting
Clever says "Account not found" or "This account doesn't exist"
This usually means your account hasn't been rostered in Clever yet. New staff are added after HR completes onboarding in FACTS, which can take one to two business days to flow into Clever. If you've been on staff longer than that and still see this error, open a ticket at acarcs.zendesk.com so IT can check your Clever roster record.
An app tile launches a blank page or spins forever
Try these in order:
- Refresh the page (Ctrl+R on a Chromebook, Cmd+R on a Mac)
- Sign out of Clever and sign back in
- Clear browser cookies for clever.com and the app's domain
- Try an incognito or guest window to rule out extension conflicts
- Check status.clever.com for a known outage
If none of those work, submit a ticket with the app name and a screenshot of the error.
A student is missing from my class in IXL or McGraw-Hill
Check two things:
- Was the student added to your class in FACTS? If not, ask the office to add them. Clever won't show the student until FACTS does.
- Was the student added in FACTS within the last 24 hours? If yes, wait one school day for the overnight sync to run.
If the student has been in your FACTS class for more than two days and still isn't in Clever, open a ticket so IT can force-refresh the roster.
I get a Google sign-in error when I try to open Clever
Make sure you're signed in to the right Google account. Chrome often defaults to a personal Gmail account if you've used one. Click your profile photo in the top right and switch to your @acarcs.org account, then try Clever again.
Clever keeps asking me to log in every time
