Running low on toner, ink, or paper? This article explains how to request supplies for your classroom or department printer and what to expect.
How to Tell When You're Running Low
- Toner/Ink: Most copiers and printers display a toner level warning on their screen when levels drop below 10–20%. You may also notice faded or streaky printouts.
- Paper: The printer display will show a "Paper Empty" or "Load Paper" message.
Requesting Toner or Ink
- Submit a ticket at acarcs.zendesk.com or email itsupport@redlandschristian.org.
- Include the following:
- Printer location (building, room number, or area — e.g., "B Building copy room")
- Printer model if known (usually on a label on the front of the machine)
- What's needed: toner color (Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow), ink cartridge, or drum
- IT will check stock and deliver or order the correct supplies.
⚠️ Do not order toner yourself — RCS has preferred vendors and contracts for supplies. Purchasing outside of this process may result in incompatible cartridges or additional cost.
Requesting Paper
Paper is typically stocked by the front office or facilities team, not IT. If your copy room is out of paper:
- Check with your front office or building coordinator first — they typically manage paper restocking.
- If you're unsure who to contact, submit an IT ticket and we'll direct you to the right person.
Replacing Toner Yourself
If a new toner cartridge is available in the copy room and you're comfortable swapping it:
- Open the front or side door as indicated on the copier label.
- Pull out the old cartridge — twist to unlock if required.
- Shake the new cartridge gently side-to-side before installing (this distributes the toner evenly).
- Insert the new cartridge until it clicks into place.
- Close the door. The machine will calibrate automatically.
If you're unsure, wait for IT — incorrect installation can damage the machine.
