Overview
Archiving a Google Classroom moves it to an archived state so it no longer appears in your active class list. Students can still view archived classrooms and their materials, but no one can post or comment. This is the recommended way to close out a class at the end of a semester or year.
How to Archive a Classroom
- Go to classroom.google.com and sign in with your RCS Google account.
- Locate the classroom card you want to archive.
- Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner of the classroom card.
- Select Archive from the dropdown menu.
- Click Archive again on the confirmation dialog to confirm.
The classroom will move out of your active list. To view archived classrooms, click the Menu icon (☰) and select Archived Classes.
Restoring an Archived Classroom
If you need to reactivate an archived classroom:
- From the Google Classroom home page, click the Menu icon (☰) and select Archived Classes.
- Find the classroom, click its three-dot menu (⋮), and select Restore.
